Rockford Fosgate 650 Watt stereo upgrade

Post  jamdread on Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:33 am

So I got the premium package for my Evo which includes the Rockford fosgate speakers/amp, plus the DVD navigation system.

I notice that the base lancer has the ability to receive FM Text (song names, messages from the radio stations) but I don't see that feature on the DVD Nav Unit. Please don't tell me that I lost the ability to receive FM text by "upgrading" to the Nav Unit.

I have that songs/names/messages on my EVO (it's a fairly basic system in most cars in the last few years)... I didn't get the upgrade Nav/Fosgate as I bought the car off the lot. Interesting you don't have it...but even if you don't, the Nav unit you have is quite amazing...google it...you will see all the options it has...I just watched a U-tube video on it. I'm planning on buying an aftermarket Nav system with back-up camera...right now they go for about $1000...will like to see what's behind that wing when I'm backing up...lol.

I love the Octane blue color you have...it would have been my first choice if I would have had a choice. I took the only EVO MR available and it was Phantom black...I had to pay the upgrade price...I couldn't believe that it's an upgrade for a "black" color....lol. No

It's hardly just black though.

I believe there is gold colour flecks in the paint which is why they charge a bit more for it.

I never thought about the lower wing and less visibility but it makes sense. The police may pick on you less though...I've been hearing that a lot of people are removing their wings for just this reason...they were getting stopped for idiotic reasons. Removing the big wing takes away from the look of the car, but if that means less police intervention then it might be worth it for some.

I have been stopped for speeding, but that's a pretty good reason to get stopped
