very close to pulling the trigger on some Swift springs

Post  jamdread on Sat Aug 01, 2009 8:57 pm

They're gonna cost around US$350 shipped to Canada and i'm looking around to see where I can get these installed.

Checked with Frisby on industrial and they say CDN$360 to install - basically an hour a corner

Any reputable places that install springs cheaper?

I can ask at my work if you want to see how much it would cost to bring your car in and id put the springs on for ya....., I work at a dodge dealer, but we have a spring compressor, and it doesn't take that long to do,lol....

found a howto on one of the evo forums:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-x-how-tos-installations/413059-spring-install-tein-s-tech.html

Would need a torque wrench as well (dont have one of those) to make sure everything is done right.

You definitely don't need a torque wrench. You need a spring compressor and about 8 cold beers Very Happy . If you would ever like to tackle it yourself and need an extra wrencher let me know!

if your going to do them yourself make sure you have good spring compressors they can be VERY dangerous. If you want a good place take it to Autovation in Stittsville.

all done. Now to take her for a test drive to help the new springs settle in place.

Sadly the girlfriend went out and took both keys so I'm stuck twiddling my thumbs till she comes back :/

So now that my springs are installed I have to get the whiteline roll center kit installed

This kit has slightly modified outer ball joint and tie rod ends for the front which helps with the roll center of the car after you lower it.

Once that's installed then i'll get an alignment and then my springs task will be 100% complete.

Shame I don't have a press to pop out the ball joint or i'd do it all myself. I checked Frisby and they wanted to charge me $315 to install the 4 parts. I checked another shop on bank and they wanted to charge me $170 for the same job. WTF

I'm heading to Frisby with the parts to get clarification as to why they wanna charge me that much money. I've had decent experience with Frisby and their prices have been reasonable so I can only assume that I didn't clarify the work to be done and they think it'll be more effort. Who knows.
