hood protection

Post  coryl on Sun Oct 04, 2009 9:02 pm

I'm looking for someone around the Ottawa area who applies front end paint protection for cars. Apparently 3M makes a plastic film product that can be applied and won't harm the paint and will protect from rock chips...I can order the product on-line, but it looks like it's pretty tricky to apply as they give you a warranty saying that if you mess up the second one they send you will be at a reduced manufacturers cost...with that printed on their website, I imagine that it is common to mess it up and the stuff isn't cheap. Anyone have any info on this or where I can get it done?

How much?...That was going to be my question. Mitsu's paint is god awful and people are having many problems with it...need to protect it as best as we can and before we get to many rock chips and problems with rust. Let me know the price...would like the 3m or equivalent with clearcoat. U.S. $'s range from about $100-$300...big difference in where you get it done. Perhaps we need to get a group deal amongst us? Let me know if anyone else needs/wants to do this and maybe we can do it together and get a better deal. I've just sent in an estimate to 3m to see the cost.

I actually sent the request for the supplies a few day ago, and I'm waiting for the reply...then we can maybe as a group get it done somewhere reasonable...cash is flowing out my door at a fast rate for my "cars", and we all need a break...what say you? Time to get together as a group and get some deals...I did this with my roof...I got 11 neighbours together and we saved $1000 each...

The price depend on the kit you get done it can range from 100$ to 600$ if you want. It all depends on what your getting, best thing is to give them a call and they will tell you over the phone how much standard kit are worth. Most people get the hood/fender and mirror kit you can have the front bumper kit too it is all laser cut so it fit's your car perfectly. Like I said the guy at Ziebart on St-Laurent is one of the best in the Ottawa region I got a custom kit done on mine and he did and awesome job had another car done at another job before and it was and horror story. You really need to get a place that knows the stuff and how to install it properly.

The plastic coating will seal out any water/salt, so it should even protect those areas and then prevent any new chips..do you want to try to get a two for one deal? lol! Or at least the best price we can get for both?.
