XLS Navi vs no Navi
Hey guys,
I'm in the process of trying to purchase a graphite XLS outie, but I am debating whether the navi system is worth the money. I've heard the computer system allows you to change many options (steering wheel radio buttons, FAST key options etc) that those without the navi system are unable to modify...
So just wondering if anybody has any experience with this and can offer some insight into the advantages of the navi (over the obvious navi/40gb hard drive part of it) ...
Is it worth it overall?
Thanks

Re: XLS Navi vs no Navi
First thing first Welcome to NCMC glad to hear that you are considering a Mitsubishi Outlander !!
If I could go back in time I would get the Nav 100% just so I can modified by myself those option instead of asking the dealer to do it for because I did not get the Nav option in my XLS.
Just do it I recommended ! I'm not saying that the nav itself is better than my aftermarket Magellan portable Nav but just the facts that you can modified the Outlander option by using the NAV and not paying the dealer to do it for me is a BIG plus !!!!
On another Note you won't regret getting a Outlander trust me did 2 winter so fare with mine and I just love it ! Get some good winter tires and you will have a lot of fun with the AWD system !!

Hey Roach ..
Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate it ...
That's what I was thinking as well, the only issue for me is they're hard to come by at this point. I understand it's likely a big pain to get the dealer to do it for you all the time, but are you still able to change all the options (steering wheel buttons to scan only the presets, FAST key buttons etc) via the dealer? Maybe I could just lump together all the things I'd want to change and get it done all at once at the dealer...
If so I might be able to make the concession and just call it a day, to be honest I think I'm just getting tired of waiting for one with nav at this point...
As for your winter tires, do you also get winter rims with those as well or use the OEM XLS ones? I was debating how hard the winters would be on the OEM's and whether it was worth it or not..
Thanks for all your help...

Re: XLS Navi vs no Navi
I got my fast key reprogram so it opens all doors and it was easy for them to do!
For the steering button, I do not know I did not ask the dealer yet sure, it is nothing!
I know the XLS with Nav are rare event when I got mine they did not have any in stock.
For winter wheel's I'm using steel wheel's from Costco with no TPMS and I went smaller too instead of 18inch I went with the LS size which is a 16 inch wheel and 215/70/16 tire it as more sidewall and cut throw snow better as it's less wide !

Re: XLS Navi vs no Navi
for me the price is hard to justify, $4000...the Nav itself is not worth it as the updates and service for it are well below par. If you can get it for $1000-1500, I would take it for what Roach said and also the possibilities that come with it like rear view camera and reading DVD.
But at a price higher than that, no thank you! There is better GPS on the market for way cheaper.
it really depends on how much $$$ you think the choice of modifying the options cost + a DVD reader
as for the TPMS, you would need all four of them in the trunk with inflated tires to get rid of the warning!

The 4000$ is the main reason why I did not get it in the first place Like Zulu said 1000 or 1500 yes but not for the asking price that mitsu want's. Got a magellant gps for 150$ and it's awsome for the 2 or 3 time I use it during the year !

I'm sure I'll get use to it at one point... But if this works I wouldn't even have to do that. How fun would that be

Re: XLS Navi vs no Navi
keeping it in the trunk wont work
on our cars it counts revolutions on all 4 tires, just dont drive past 60km/hr and ur light will never come on. eaiser said then done, myself i just drive with the warning on for winter, i find the tpms so useless anyways, as for Sat nav i went aftermarket, got US and CA maps plus i play dvd.s while in drive. Aftermarket uinits offer so much more features. they just wont show you info about the car like fual economy and all that stuff offered in the stock one

The only reason I got the Nav system is because I wanted a sunroof and that was all bundled together in the "premium package" for the MR
