Winter/Steel rims
Does anyone know where to get steel rims for the Evo? I haven't had any luck finding any locally.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know that on the quebec mitsubishi club a few guy's went with cheap alloy wheel's for the winter as it was the only option they found that will fit over the bembro brakes setup on the Evo.

Too late obviously for some, but perhaps not for others. Best sources for tires and rims:
www.tirerack.com
www.tiretrends.com
www.1010tires.com
The second two are Canadian. All three ship right to your door, or a garage if you prefer.
Usually I save $100-200 per wheel on performance summer and winter tires going this route. I figure out what I want, get prices from all three, go with the cheapest after the exchange rate. I've pruchased from all three over the years, and that should tell you something about how competitive they are.

I looked everywhere for steel rims...you can find them in 17in but not 18in unless you have money to burn...which model and year do you have? The best and cheapest tires I found were at ottawatiredirect.ca. Half the price of anywhere else for the EVO needing 18in to fit over the Brembos (I went through all local and all on-line sites even in the U.S. ie tirerack,etc)...I got Blizzaks, basic rims (with the salted road we have here, anything will be destroyed so go cheap), and I also got the TPMS added...all for $2240...the next lowest price was for $2700, and the rest were $3000 and above with the highest quote being $3850...OMG I just about fainted. The $2240 (CAD) was for 2009 tires (watch out for old tires being sold to you), all taxes, and delivered into my garage.

Re: Winter/Steel rims
I'm going to clarify, as I don't think I really made it clear in my above mail...I don't think you can get 18in steelies here in Canada for the EVO, or at least I wasn't able to find them and I searched high and low (they are a specialty rim and there isn't a big enough market for them here)...rims are increasing in size lately in the new cars, so maybe in a year or two they will have them, but until then...you need to go online and get them from the U.S. and they are about $2000 (U.S) for a set of 4 (for decent ones), which is what a friend of mine paid for his...I prefer to get cheaper aluminum/painted rims for the 5 months they will be on...who the heck sees your tires in 3 feet of snow we have in this province?...lol.

I don't know... I guess 18s are pretty expensive for nothing... I he could get smaller rims it would probably be better for his wallet

What is his model/year...18's are horrible to find here, and 17's are bad too. LOTS OF MONEY SPENT FOR EVO OWNERS! He has to fit over the Brembos...if he has a EVO 9, he will be able to go to 17's, and if he has an evo X like me, he has to stick with the 18's...god awful prices...

Have your friend contact Sean, at Ottawatiredirect and see if he can set him up. Another option is to buy second-hand stock (aluminum)rims and put tires on them for winter...not to many EVO's in this area, so they may be hard to find. That was my dilemna!

I ended up buying another set of stocks from someone in California last year. I think I paid around $650 CAD in the end.

Re: Winter/Steel rims
I just found out that some of the Costco stores may have some leftover steel rims from last year that will fit (they say they won't order any in this year)...you would have to call around to the different stores yourself, as they won't call around for you...they be "too busy", or so they say.
