Try concentrated pine sol...won't scratch or discolor, and your car will have the smell of a pine forest...don't know what the smell would be of the stuff that was recommended to you, but it even says it smells bad so it must be really bad...Pine sol is cheaper...it even takes the yellowing out of stored wedding dresses...stuff is quite amazing and the price is a lot cheaper.

There is also another product that removes stains/grease/scuffs/dirt/tobacco resin, etc, called "orange clean", "tough acting degreaser and multipurpose cleaner". Stuff is very good and made from orange oil so won't scratch and the smell in your car is oranges...the orange oil also protects the finish. Takes off all the crap on all my plastics in my cars.

Both of these can be bought at Canadian tire/Zellers/Wallmart. If the stain is deep go with the pinesol first...if it doesn't work (I think it will), then you have lost nothing as you will just use it as your household cleaner.

I thought you hadn't bought it yet, so I was coming up with some better smelling alternatives...lol. What does the stuff smell like?
