Sebring problem
I need your opinion on something that happened last night while driving the Sebring.... I felt two slight jolts, and then the car ran rough for a few minutes appearing like it would stall, with the engine light flickering on and off. I shut off the car for 15 minutes and then on restart it worked perfectly. I just redid the entire exhaust system last week...cat, flexpipe and all three O2 sensors, and added premium gas to help it pass the upcoming emisions' test. Any opinions on what may have caused this? I had the music up loud but I imagine this was a backfiring and that has never happened before with this car. I was told to drive the car for a week before taking it in for the emission's test to get the cat worked in and the computer set before taking it in to get it retested. The engine light has gone off since the work was done, and then last nights incident has left me concerned.

o2 sensor reading adjustments will cause that, might happen once or twice more, my old ford did the same to me a few after i changed an o2, id just push in the clutch and rev the snot of it then problem fixed itself.

Re: Sebring problem
God I love you for giving me peace of thought!
I was thinking, did I get a, bad cat, bad O2 sensor and if so which one(?), or bad gas, or timing belt slip, spark plug/tune up issues, etc. This car is difficult to fix and figure out...no manual is correct for it and only the dealership can check the codes, etc. It was made in 1998 for only a period of 6 months, and has a Gallant frame, Mitsubishi engine, and an exhaust system that is different from any other Sebring...one of the O2 sensors was 42in long, and all the parts are rare and expensive if you can even figure out which parts to order...it's a miracle when you get the right ones, and even two Chrysler dealerships who had my VIN # said this car has 4 O2 sensors when it only has 3 when I was trying to order the front flex pipe and wanted to make sure I was getting the right pipe from London, Ont. Any problems in this car takes a miracle to figure out therefore.
Anyways, my head was swimming, so thanks so much for the reasurance. You say it could happen again? Here's hoping it at least doesn't do that again on the emissions testing day next week!
