Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype gets Lancer front end

Mitsubishi will be on hand at next week's New York Auto Show with a new version of the Outlander called the GT Prototype. We'll go out on a limb here and guess the Outlander GT Prototype is really a sneak peek at the next version of this capable CUV. As you can sort of tell from the blurry teaser shot provided by Mitsubishi, the GT Prototype replaces the Outlander's rather simple front end with one that looks nearly identical to that of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, thereby visually linking it with the rest of the brand's lineup.

Mitsubishi also says the GT Prototype will get better fuel economy from a more powerful version of the Outlander's 3.0-liter V6 thanks to new technologies like Idle Neutral Logic that shifts the transmission into Neutral when the vehicle is stopped. Lastly, a Super-All-Wheel-Control System should keep the CUV clawing for traction. Stay tuned next week for our live coverage of the New York Auto Show where we'll find out everything you need to know about the Mitsubishi Outlander GT Prototype.
