Need some information about Ontario

Hi,

I need some information about Ontario. Let me explain, I’m living in Montreal and strongly considering moving in Ontario but there a few thing that I can’t find. Here a sample of my question.

-Do I need some kind of work permit to legally work in Ontario?
-Is there work available for a computer IT specialist?
-Will have problem to get an Ontarian driver licence and car registration?
-What is the normal rate for renting an apartment and home and car assurance (for a Lancer RA 2006)?

No work pernmit needed...if you can work in Quebec, you can work in Ontario. You will need to apply for health card, and for driver's licence, and then there's also some forms to fill out for transfer of taxes from Quebec to Ontario...my girlfriend just moved from Quebec to Ontario last month, so I'll ask her but I remember she is still grumbling about all the things she had to do.
Just had a friend from London, Ont, asking me the same question about work...she is also an IT specialist. She wasn't able to find anything here, but that doesn't mean you won't...best to get the job first, and then consider the move, and especially if you are employed where you are now.
No problem getting a driver's licence just go to the main branch of the Ontario licencing and make the application. Before you can register your car, you will need to have it pass a safety inspection...cost about $50, plus, whatever they think is needed to make it pass (brakes/balljoints/working windshield wipers, etc). Also the car will need an emisions test, if I remember hearing correctly...cost $35, plus anything they need to make the emisions to 'Californian' standards (this one ticks me off, as how can we be the same when we have such rugged weather compared to California, and our cars take more stress due to these changes?).
Cost of renting depends on what you want...usual amount is around $1000/month for a basic 2bdr appartment, or so I've been told.

I'll speak to my girlfriend in the next day or two and see what all she had to do. It is more complicated if you have children...do you have children?

If my car is stock I shouldnt be a problem to pass the test?

I dont have children but I have two smalls winners dogs (one male & one female). Both are neutral so they cant have puppies.

Fait juste t'inscrire au gouvernement fédéral, informatique = job... Moi je travail à revenu canada pis ca rentre à tout les mois ya du nouveau monde ca arrête pas...

La seule chose, il faut que tu ais étudié dans une école reconnue par le gouvernement (3 ans d'études)... donc une technique ou un cours professionel.

Ca peut être long pour rentrer, la période de selection est normalement au mois d'avril, mais tu peux t'inscrire n'importe quand.. Ils effacent les candidature une fois par année, donc tu es mieu de te réinscrire le plus souvent possible.

Ca dépends aussi ou tu vas déménager fait attention à cque tu mets dans ta candidature.

Fait deux ans que je suis à Gatineau et j'ai toujours pas réussi à renter au Fed!..

Pour une personne qui vient de finir l'école c'est facile de rentrer, mais pour une personne qui travail depuis un tit boutte, c'est beaucoup plus long! J'ai appliquer sur un poste en Aout 2008 et j'ai fait 2 tests et une entrevue durant l'été... là j'attend des news justement pour ça! C'est aussi pour revenu Canada!

Entk.. c'Est calissement long faut pas que tu compte là dessus c'est sur! Sauf que c'est LE meilleur employeur que tu peux trouver. Le salaire est juste trop élevé!!!

Pis Neo, déménage a Gatineau, tu paye plus de taxe oui, mais c'est moins cher et moins de trouble héhé

Parce que pour un gars bilingue ca rentre vite en tbk lollll... À terme oui, mais au moins t'as un pied dedans...

Dite moi le quand vous appliquez jvais donner vos nom si ya dla place... Jpeux pas vous faire rentrer c'est contre les règles, mais une entrevue ca aide

J'étudie présentement en Intégration multimédia au Cégep de l'Outaouais, et on nous dit souvent que le fédéral c'est le plus gros employeur de la région. J'vais p-e essayer d'avoir une job d'été au fédéral l'été prochain.

A part du gouvernement il y a t-il d'autre compagnie "d'informatique"?

Il y a beaucoup d'entreprises multimedia dans l'Outaouais, plus d'une trentaine. Je peux te trouver une liste si tu veux, on devait en trouver 30 pour un projet à notre première session.

Oui il y a beaucoup de compagnie privé aussi. Une agence de placement peut t'aider avec ca aussi ils ont des contrats autant au gouvernement que dans le privé.

J'ai fait affaire avec ses deux la et très bon service ses eu autre qui mon permis d'être ou je suis maintenant avec un job permanente en IT au Gouvernement !

LOL RaptorD tu connais ma soeur I guess ? lolll J'ai étudié en multimédia aussi pis ma soeur est là en ce moment Profites-en dude c'est le temps pour t'inscrire à temps partiel au gouv pendant que t'es étudiant ou comme job d'été. J'ai eu ma première job en première année de multi, t'as tellement d'ouvertures avec ce cours là c'est fou tu touche à tout les domaines faque go pitch toi dedans pour avoir un pied dedans...

Pis crois moi ca paye ben plus qu'une job au mcdo loll

Entk, moi j'attend encore des news pour une poste que j'ai fait l'entrevue, c'est pour une job en technologie adaptée pour revenu canada, j'avais appliqué sur le siteweb direct pour ste poste là je crois.. ça fait trop longtemps héhé! Mais bon, j'compte pas là dessus, c'est vraiment décevant... dans 5 ans, ils vont toutes faire pour nous engager.. alors au pire ça sera plus tard! héhé
