Team MASC - Free driving events (Drag, AutoX, etc)
Hi folks,
I'm in a local car club called Team MASC. The main objective of the club is to promote racing on safe, closed courses rather than the street. The founder of the club asked me to promote the club after learning that I was in NCMC. The club has a number of sponsors, the biggest among which is ICAR. I'll give a very brief overview here, however if you think you might be interested, check out the website for more detailed information (link below).
Membership is free. Some of the things membership gives you:
- Free access to driving events, mainly held at ICAR (Drag, autocross, etc)
- 5$ rebate at any time for lapping at ICAR (25$/20 minutes instead of 30$/20 minutes)
- The club has agreements with local law enforcement (on the Quebec side at least), so members aren't pulled over just because they might have an aftermarket exhaust, for example, as long as they aren't revving their engines just for the hell of it (Obviously, if you're breaking the law you'll be pulled over no matter how many MASC stickers you have on your back windshield
).
The club is bilingual, most members are from Gatineau though so we usually speak French, however there are a number of English-only members, so all are welcome.

We need more people representing Mitsubishi!

I can't really prove it, that's what the founder told me. Basically, when you join MASC you agree to obey traffic laws and not speed, and "in return", when police see a MASC sticker in a windshield, they know that you pledged to be a responsible driver, and should leave you alone if you aren't doing anything wrong.

I don't believe it either! Next time I see my friend that work for the Gatineau police I'm going to ask him if he ever heard of that!

I dont either the cops are butt holes on average, I am looking at it this way if this can be recognized and they do work with local police then maybe just maybe the police may start to seperate the good tuners from the ones we can do with out.
As far as the mufflers go loud is loud and the regs are the regs make the changes and take your chances YES I KNOW MY CAR IT TOO LOUD but the sc is going on in 2 weeks. GIGGITY

Yes, loud is loud, but there's a difference between those who redline every gear at 2 in the morning with their loud exhausts and those who are aware that they have a car that can be considerably loud and take it easy in residential areas during the night. The idea is that MASC members are expected to be part of that latter group, and "shouldn't" be profiled (as much?) by police just because they have a sportier car/loud exhaust.
