New driveway parking by-law in toronto 5000$ fine

Post  enkrypter_DJ on Mon Oct 04, 2010 8:39 pm

Since october first, in toronto you can no longer fill up your driveway. IF you have a 1 car garage ur allowed 1 car in the garage and 1 in the driveway. If u have a 2 car garage ur allowed 2 in the garage. No garage = 1 in the driveway

I sure hope they dont bring that here in Ottawa.

They say that the law was put through "quietly".
You may be able to purchase a visitor's pass...probably just another cash grab that Ottawa will try to buy into as well if we don't watch out. What about if you have someone visiting for an extended period of time, or even visiting for the day/night? I'm worried about my tequila night with the girls if it ever comes here. What are people supposed to do with their other cars/boats/motorcycles? This is just too crazy a law to believe it even got passed.

We need your help in making sure that law doesn't come here. Anyone who loves motorized vehicles needs to ensure it doesn't...government has no place on our driveways or in our bedrooms. Maybe we should be proactive and offer the government money to keep out the law cause we know that's what they want from us. Mad

I'll have to get rid of my avatar evidence if the law ever comes here...in that pic I've got my two cars in the driveway...if I did that under the new law it would be worth a $5000 fine because I've made the area look extremely ugly having my two cars visible to the public. Rolling Eyes

Three cars in the driveway will give you a $5000 fine if the law comes here. Problem with parking on the street is that it is against the law in Toronto to park more than 3 hours on 'any' street (even your own street in front of your house), and in Ottawa it is against the law to park more than 4 hours on any street. Just ask me...I got a $65 ticket in SUMMER, for parking one afternoon in front of my own house and that is on a crescent in Centerpointe which is a very quiet/dead street, so they come looking to ticket you purposely (I was shocked)...they mark your tires and come back 4 hours later the little ******. My neighbour got a ticket the month before that for doing the same.

We will all be screwed in some way if this law comes here.

We don't have any of these in gatineau... The only ones I've heard were.

- No parking on the streets in winter between midnight and 7am
- If you have a trailer or a boat it can't be in front of the house in any way... If its in a driveway it has to be behind the front limit of the house.. I don't know if this the good way to say it...

Have you read the humongous bible of bylaws? I'm sure it's there somewhere, along with the shotgun wedding law which apparently still exists but for obvious reasons isn't allowed...don't tell this to anyone with a pregnant daughter and especially if they own a shotgun. lol!
