RPW Engine tune

Post  enkrypter_DJ on Thu Oct 07, 2010 6:39 pm

so ive been thinking of getting the RPW Email flash. I would need to send them my ECU romfile by email in order to do so. I know some members here have evoscan and the data cable. Would anyone be able to help me out. also does this file download and upload happen from the plug in under the dash?

Dan think!!! not trying to pimp us here but but if you are going to get a flash get one from North America!!! the Aussie ECU is not even close to ours (in Canada) We read the the Aussie ecu long time ago and the data is not even close and we also have roms from the 08-2010 Lancer and Ralliart and EVOX (respectively) all from Aussie-ville and we did a comparison and none are close to the North American tune. Their emission restrictions are crazy so ya their tune will work for them but for here you may get slight increase.....do your homework.......

To answer your question you need a program that will read the ecu rom then email it to then they change a few things and you flash it back into your ecu.

Now to pimp us we have already read the roms for all new Mitsu's and have a definition built for most.

some guys in the states are runnign this tune and it seems to work good for them. I like the fact that its only 68$ and id be able to save the rom file and switch it back to stock if need be.

I would like to see these guys and how well it works well for 68 bucks take your chances then again like cobb and others they do a generic tune that will get you a few extra hp and we cant and wont compete with that but if thats what you are looking for then more power to you and good luck, if someone wants a tune that is designed for your car and can flash back to stock then we can help you out.

In this business you get what you pay for.

Edit:

Compare the rrm turbo kit then compare it to ours
rrm 217whp
rpw 238 (i cant remember to be honest)
mine 251whp

we must know a thing or two on how to tune these cars after all we were the first in the world to reflash the 4g69. What i do know a generic tune is what it is a company plays with the maps and sets things on their test car and hope all goes well in another car...we take your car and tune it safely to its potential, and trust me on this Mitsu changes the hardware on a yearly basis, we just don't toss in a basic tune...plus if you have the same software, i think its evoscan or one from taxtrix you can take our tune and do the same flash back to stock its takes 66 seconds.

Dan, I have evoscan & the tactrix, but I don't know if you need the 2.0 cable for the 08+ lancers?

all you guys need is the update. as you know the ecu is not an easy thing to play with. i am not 100% sure what software Mike uses for your car but i do know you can get it cheap or free. We use evoscan to tune my car but its full of bugs and glitches and makes tuning take longer than is necessary.

Look get us to tune your car or not my main concern is get it done right. Stick to a North American company that knows what they are doing. Look at evom rpw gave tactrix a copy of the aussie rom from others to work off (4g69) when i saw that i said cool people with brick their ecu and send it to us.....the aussie ecu is NOT like ours that included the 4b11 and 4b12. Get it done here in North America......

I've been thinking about this too. I do believe u need the 2.0 for our models. I've heard nothing but good reviews for the tune. and even someone in alberta has it and loves it. The price is beautiful, and they will be coming out with a stage 2 for the 2.4L at some point i believe.

I didnt realize wolverine coudl flash back to stock no problem too I supose, but not sure what shall be done right now for myself. Sadly i probably need to pick up winter tires first

if you have the software that will read and write you can flash it back and forth as often as you like. We will be selling a base tune and definition so you can make changes as you see fit but that will come with a disclosure as we or any company that gives the user the ability to flash their ecu a live grenade.

I am sure the tune works but again its generic it can be better.

Thats not a bad idea to be honest...I talked to Mike lastnight and there is no reason why we can do the same. We dont like the idea of a basic generic tune but if thaets where the market id going that we should go with it. Lets get 5 guys/gals together we will tune one car then flash that tune in all the rest. If you are interested let me know.

i'd consider a group buy thing. However, i think me and chuck have 4b12 engines and other ppl would have 4b11, so we'd need a diffrent tune then anyone with 4b11.

I have a 2010 GTS (4b12 , right?) but honestly don't know too much about tuning and ECU flashing. If I knew what was involved, the benefits (anything other than higher HP) and potential risks (warranty voiding, additional engine wear etc) and costs (cables, software) it's something I might consider.
