Sirius Satellite not working

Post  gogo on Fri Feb 11, 2011 10:41 am

My Sirius satellite isn't working on my USDM EVO X ( I have subscription). From what I understand channel 184 should always works, mine doesn't, so its not picking up the signal at all for whatever reason. Need to replace the Sirius satellite module most likely? what you guys think?

The satellite module is in the radio itself, so I hope you won't have to change it lol. Unless you bought it seperately

Call sirius and verify with them... Is the radio showing the phone number ? Is there anything working when you put it on satellite mode ? Or its just a blank screen with no sound...

Also check your antenna, it does not take much to loose the reception with these things

the mmcs shows the phone number to call to activate, but the weather channel 184 should work regardless and it doesn't (no sound or any onscreen information about whats playing on channel 184). Just shows the number up top of the screen to call to activate. Where would the sirius antenna be located in order to check?

the antenna is in the base of the radio antenna, its the rectangular part and then plugs digitaly in the back of the deck you can always backtrack the wire like that. But it seems like it would be easier to let the warranty take care of that. toomnay plastic clips will break taking things apart when its cold like it is now

Yea, I think I may try to change the module, maybe pick one up used for 100 or so whenever it becomes available, the closest US dealership is a long drive away, the gas will cost me more than the part prolly. In the meantime I think I will try checking behind the glove box for the module just to make sure everything is okay there, unplug, plug it back in ... hope its not hard getting to it.

Speaking of plastic clips, anyone know where to get those plastic clips (besides the dealership as they prolly cost $ 5 a piece) that hold the bumper down in the wheel well as well as the ones below the front bumper? The ones below the bumper in particular are impossible to take off cleanly and there have been some casualties among mine..
