Where is the best place to service my lancer in ottawa?
Ok! where is the best place to service (like oil change) my lancer in ottawa? coz i feel that Donnelly Mitsu are going or planning to rip me off.... for oil change.... My first oil changed was done at 3007 km then they told me the next one will be at 8007 km (that's according to my sticker on windshield) or after 3 mons. which is just came also so I was force to oil changed again at 6087 km (coz don't drive a lot). Now my sticker saying my next oil change should be at 12000 km or 3 mons. but i'm close to three mons again and my KM still low (9090 km so far) and for sure I will not reach 12000 km in three weeks. The question is are Donnelly Mitsu trying to rip me off????? coz if i go there 4 times in one year... it will cost me almost $400.... Note I asked the advisor.... about this and she told me that "Mitsubishi requiring this to check or service your lancer every 3 mons." is this true???? ****sorry for my broken english****

i just bring it to mr lube because its quick and easy and open on weekends, sometimes i reset the maintenance light myself and wait a few more weeks because my oil is still nice and clean, and i find changing syntech @ 3 months with barely no km is waste of money

I change my oil every 5k. If you have a ralliart or an evo make sure you use the right oil.
Bank Street Mitsu has decent prices. If you want to save money you can bring your own oil to the dealer instead of having them supply it.

Check with the Manufacturers recommended intervals. Then make sure you use manufacturer recommended oil, then keep accurate records of the intervals in which you change the oil. I will talk to Mike this morning and see id we can get you and others from the NCMC a deal on oil changes.
If anyone is interested let me know.

Re: Where is the best place to service my lancer in ottawa?
As I'm writing this, I have under 3500kms on my 2008 EVO X, and Donnelly Mitsu had previously told me that they require that I take my car in to them every 3 months regardless of kms/other factors, etc, in all to keep my warranty...they told me that synthetic oil breaks down at 3 months and that I have a "racing engine" under my hood as a reminder of why I had to do the changes every 3 months, yet that same person at Donnelly's then also mentioned that they don't have much experience with EVO's (that statement didn't instill confidence). Then because I argued with them on how ridiculous this was for me to bring in the car every aprox 800kms for a full synthetic oil/filter change, and even more so when I reminded them of my specific circumstances, they then wrote on my invoice (when I took the car in for the recalls), to remind this customer of the 3 month oil changes. They also charged me over $200 for the first synthetic oil change I was "required" to do with them...I had no idea what they were going to charge me as I just dropped it off (I mistakenly thought dealerships had standard set prices), and I certainly wasn't expecting that bill presented to me to which I almost fell over...they actually charged me $24/l for mobil 1 oil.
At that point I had decided that I would just have to chance my warranty and do the oil changes as needed and put the money I saved into a high interest savings account incase something went wrong with the car and then I'd probably have to pay for it myself, or maybe pay for a lawyer. I was believing I probably wouldn't have a warranty as there was no way I was spending $800+/year on synthetic oil changes for a car with this low amount of kms and also with the way this car is driven. Then I decided to speak with Dave (service manager) at Bank street Mitsubishi to see if he could do something for me. Dave went to bat for me and he spoke with the reps at Mitsu Canada to see if they could make a specific maintenance program for me. I heard back on friday that they have actually agreed to lengthen my maintenance schedule (they refused to base it on kms, but then that would take a year or more to reach those kms) and although it's not totally what I had asked/hoped for, it's certainly better than it was and I can at least live with it to keep my warranty. Also Bank street only charges around $100 for their synthetic oil changes (as Jamdread mentions they have pretty good deals), so if enough people stop going to Donnelly for their $200+ overpriced synthetic oil changes, and $100 basic oil changes, maybe they'll decrease their prices? You also get 10%-off with your NCMC card at Bank street Mitsubishi for service/oil changes/parts, so that's money saved as well.
So my advice to you is to speak with Dave at Bank street (for an honest answer) and see if he can do something for your specific case due to your consitently low kms, (as it all starts with having very low kms), and then adding any other mitigating circumstances as your situation may be quite different from most others. Mitsu can extend your maintenance times for various reasons, or as we all know, they can discontinue your warranty if something goes wrong if you didn't follow the maintenance schedule as Wolverine has above mentioned and recommended you follow, and then you might have a battle on your hands to get anything fixed if you haven't made other arrangements with them first. Also you can find cheaper oil changes at other places as Enkrypter has mentioned above to you to, if at the end result after speaking with Dave is that you need to have the 3 month oil changes to keep your specific warranty. Mitsubishi may actually allow you to go with oil changes based on kms, but it might be good to check with them first as it may then go so much longer than the 3 months (as it would have in my case) and they didn't agree with that kind of length of time between oil changes...remember, most people reach their kms before the 3 months time is up or at least pretty close to it, and your situation seems to be consistently different, and mine was drastically different than the norm.
You really just need to find out first what Mitsu Canada is willing to do for your 'specific' circumstances if you don't feel you fit in with what's being said, and then you can decide what's best for your car and cheapest for you. And remember, it never hurts to ask, as the worst they can say is no but at least you'll have your answer and your warranty if you choose to keep it. And there is no point in calling Mitsubishi Canada on your own unless you want someone to tell you what the warranty booklet says and then will leave it all up to you to decide what fits...that's an absolute waste of your time when you're looking for answers specific to your own unique situation. You need someone who can get you the answers and who is also willing to go to bat for you....so make sure you speak directly to Dave if you call or go to Bank street Mitsu, and not just to someone else who might just speak warranty booklet language...there are just too many of those around.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
And Wolverine, if there are opportunities to have cheaper oil changes please count me in, even if it's in a package deal of a certain amount of changes (which might even be a better deal).
